How to Clean & Maintain Carrara White Worktops
Carrara White is the marble most people picture when they think of the word "marble", soft white-grey with classic, understated linear veining. It's also one of the most-asked-about stones for maintenance, since its popularity means a lot of people have heard conflicting advice about how demanding it is to live with. The honest answer: it's no harder to maintain than any other marble, it just needs the same basic routine.
Carrara White needs the same routine as any marble, no more: wipe with warm water and a pH-neutral stone soap, avoid bleach, vinegar and lemon juice, which etch the surface, wipe up spills as you notice them, and reseal roughly every 6 to 12 months, checking sooner under heavy daily use.
Daily cleaning
Wipe with a soft cloth and warm water, or a pH-neutral stone soap. No special products needed beyond that.
What to avoid
Bleach, vinegar, lemon juice, and ammonia-based cleaners etch the surface, this is true of every marble, not something specific to Carrara, but worth repeating since it's the single most common way a marble worktop ends up looking prematurely worn.
Spill response
Wipe up spills as you notice them, particularly wine, coffee, and anything citrus-based. There's nothing unusually delicate about Carrara here, prompt attention is simply the rule for any marble.
Resealing
Reseal every 6-12 months as a general guide, checking more often if the surface sees heavy daily use. A simple water-bead test tells you where you stand.
If you've been told Carrara marble is "too much work," it isn't, it just rewards the same light, consistent care every natural marble does.
